Headaches Arising From The Neck

Headaches that arise from the neck can come from many sources i.e. muscle strain, joint sprain, stress, tension, poor posture etc. Our chiropractors here at the AMI Clinic, in Bedford, are trained to diagnose, treat, and manage these types of headaches.

A headache arising from the neck is typically called a cervicogenic headache, meaning it is pain ascending from the muscles and joints of the cervical spine.

Common symptoms of headaches that arise from the neck:

·         A dull diffuse ache across the shoulders, shoulder blades, and or into the neck area
·         A stiff neck
·         A dull ache/pain or throb across the base of the head
·         Limited head and neck movement
·         Etc.

Due to the fact cervicogenic headaches arise from problems in the neck, different conditions can trigger these types of pains including degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis in the neck, a disc herniation, a trapped nerve, minor sports injuries, whiplash or even poor posture while sitting or standing. This is why it is important to know where the root cause of your problems is so then you can target the treatment accordingly.

If you are suffering with these types of headaches, get in contact today and allow us to identify, treat and manage your symptoms.

Boosts Mental Health Regular physical activity is a natural mood enhancer, helping to relieve stress, anxiety, and depression. It's like nature's antidepressant - without the side effects . #2. Enhances Joint Health Movement helps maintain joint flexibility and can reduce pain and stiffness. If you’re focusing on improving your spinal health, regular motion will ensure that your bac...
5 reasons to put your phone down in February Do you ever think about how different life was before mobile phones? Having to call someone's house phone to get hold of them. Or agreeing a place and time to meet someone, and hoping they turned up! Nowadays, where our phones are often 'glued' to our person at all times, it's easy to forget the value of truly unplugging. That's why today, I'm inviting you to explore the concept of a digital detox. It's more than just a break from screens - it's a journey towards improved mental and physical health. Here are my top 5 reasons digital detox can be incredibly beneficial: 1.  Reduced Stress:  It's no secret that constant notifications and social media can increase stress and anxiety. Stepping away from screens gives your mind a much-needed break, leading to a more relaxed and calm state. 2.  Improved Sleep:  Screens emit blue light that can disrupt your sleep cycle. By reducing screen time, especially before...
